Warrior at Rest

Ok, I'm still in the learning phase of sumi-e , so this painting is a bit loose. I'm having trouble controlling the brush, but I guess it has sort of given the piece a softer look.
I am used to doing more detailed work, and I was tempted to add detail in with pen and ink..but I held back, and decided to let the work stand. This was actually a combination of sumi ink, watercolor and gouache on mat board.

Uah-Dai

First in my series of tribal mask paintings. This was done in ink and watercolor on mat board. This does not represent any actual tribal mask, but it is my own creation, perhaps for the tribe I may establish someday : )

Shaman III

In this drawing, the shaman wears his mask. In the dream, when he removes the mask, his faced seemd to consist of tightly wrapped twine, as did his entire body.

Shaman II

The second in my shaman series, I chose to draw him in ink only. I am somewhat partial to ink drawings, and almost left the first one as an ink drawing, but my habit of second guessing myself got the better of me.

Shaman

This is the first in a series of shaman illustrations I am working on. It began with something I encountered in a dream, and I have felt compelled to create various images of him. This was done in ink and watercolor.
